Dan Green
Principal

Since 2008, Dan Green has been responsible for Wheelock’s residential land and home building investments. He has helped build a portfolio encompassing more than 24,000 residential lots in a dozen communities coast to coast.

Dan has more than 30 years of national experience with land acquisitions, financing, entitlement, development and sales. Prior to joining Wheelock, Dan was regional VP of land acquisition for KB Home, in charge of land operations for the eastern United States. He previously spent 18 years in management roles with Richland Properties, an entrepreneurial real estate investment firm with more then $1 billion in assets. His responsibilities during his tenure included acquisitions, financing and disposition of assets. He assisted in the formation and operation of Richland’s broadcast tower business, in conjunction with the 1996 FCC ruling to transition from analog to digital television.

Dan earned a B.A. from Cedarville University in Ohio and an M.B.A. from Syracuse University. He began his career in auditing with Ernst & Young, and is a Certified Public Accountant.


Mike Rafferty
Regional Partner - Texas

Mike Rafferty joined Wheelock in 2009 as regional partner with responsibility for the acquisition and development of residential land and homebuilding assets in the major Texas markets. He has overseen the acquisition and ongoing development of five master-planned communities and a portfolio of smaller assets in DFW, Houston, Austin and San Antonio representing over 10,000 lots. Based in Houston, Mike has over 25 years of experience in land acquisition, entitlement, development, sales, and marketing in the residential, commercial and homebuilding arenas. He has purchased three companies, acquired/sold over $550M in land and income-producing assets, and developed in excess of 25,000 lots.

Prior to joining Wheelock, Mike was executive vice president responsible for land acquisition/development, financial operations, sales, marketing and government affairs for the Houston division of KB Home. During his tenure, the division grew to over 2,500 annual home sales, annual revenues exceeding $350 million, land inventory of over 25,000 lots, and an annual development budget exceeding $75 million.

Mike was formerly vice president and regional partner for Trammell Crow Residential’s corporate housing affiliate, established a new Houston-based division by acquiring the largest local competitor and growing the resulting operation into the largest division in the country. Prior to TCR, he held various land acquisition, community development, commercial and residential sales and marketing management positions in both the Houston and Washington, D.C. markets with Exxon’s real estate subsidiary, Friendswood Development Company, one of the largest master-planned community developers in the country.

Mike began his career with Exxon Corporation in internal audit. He received both a B.S. degree in finance and an MBA from the University of Wyoming with Honors, while earning the distinction of Academic All American while playing football for the Cowboys.


Reed Berlinsky
Regional Partner - Florida

Reed Berlinsky is President of Gentry Land Company, a Florida real estate firm that acquires, develops and manages mixed-use and residential communities. Reed’s firm began its partnership with Wheelock in 2010 with the acquisition of the 680-acre, 1400-unit Randal Park community in Orlando. He served as development partner for the recently completed 2,400-acre mixed-use Starkey Ranch community north of Tampa, and is currently developing the 6,000-acre Waterlin community in Central Florida, just south of Orlando.

Prior to starting Gentry Land Company, Reed was the senior vice president at KB Home, responsible for acquisitions and development for the Orlando division. During his tenure, the division acquired and developed more than 15,000 single-family residential lots with annual development budgets exceeding $75M.

Reed began his career as a site development contractor, building and managing golf course and residential communities throughout the Southeast.

A fourth-generation Floridian, Reed resides in idyllic St. Cloud with his wife, 3 grown children and 5 grandsons.


Matt Call
Project Director - Florida

Matt Call leads the development team for the 6,000-acre Waterlin community in Central Florida. He successfully completed the the 2,500-home Starkey Ranch community in Pasco County, and the Randal Park community in Orlando.

Matt has more than 20 years of experience in land development and residential construction. Before joining Wheelock in 2011, he managed the Florida land assets and developed several Central Florida communities for a national home builder. He has developed more than 3,500 single-family lots and 550 townhome pads in over 25 communities. He also developed two master-planned resort-style communities for Stock Development with a total of 1,372 condominium units.

Matt earned a B.A. in management from Cedarville University in Ohio. He has been a Florida certified building contractor since 2010. He and his wife stay fit by keeping up with their two young children.

John Myers
Regional Partner - Raleigh

John Myers is president of JPM South Development, a Raleigh firm that serves as Wheelock’s development partner for Traditions at Wake Forest and newly acquired Jordan Pointe in nearby Apex, North Carolina.

John began his career as a site civil design engineer in Northern Virginia. He transitioned into land development, first with a local development firm, then as director of land acquisitions and development for the Potomac Division of Pulte Homes. In the late 1990s he moved to Raleigh to open an office for L.M. Sandler & Sons and was soon named president of Sandler-owned Wakefield Development Company. During his tenure, Wakefield developed more than 12,000 lots in a dozen communities between Raleigh and Charlotte.

In late 2009 he and partner Randy Smith formed JPM South. In addition to its work with Wheelock, the firm has developed 22 Raleigh-area communities with more than 4,000 lots, and provides development management services to local and national builders.

John received a BS in civil engineering from Georgia Tech and an MBA from George Mason University. He is active in the Wake County Home Builders Association and the Triangle Community Coalition. John is a sports enthusiast and enjoys travel and spending time with his wife and three teenagers.


Steve Coniglio
Regional Partner - Mid Atlantic

Steve Coniglio joined Wheelock in 2017 as regional partner with responsibility for the acquisition and development of residential and mixed-use land in the Mid-Atlantic region.

Based in Washington, DC, Steve has over 30 years of experience in land acquisition, entitlement, development, sales, and marketing in the residential, commercial and homebuilding arenas including award-winning, master-planned communities in both Northern Virginia and Maryland. 

Steve has extensive homebuilder experience, having set up the Mid-Atlantic Division of KB Home and amassing $300M in land assets in the DC MSA in 2 years. Prior to joining KB, Steve served as the Division Director of Land Acquisition for Pulte Homes. Additionally, Steve has considerable private equity experience, managing the Washington office of Sunbrook Partners, the operational affiliate of Westbrook Partners, a private equity firm with close to $20B in investments worldwide. In the Washington DC area Steve was responsible for the acquisition of $100M worth projects containing 2400 Lots and 300,000 SF of retail. Prior to Sunbrook, Steve was the East Coast Principal for LandCap Partners, a similar platform funded by Goldman Sachs and NorthStar Realty Trust. 

Steve graduated from The College of William and Mary and served in the Army for 20 years.  


Steve Thurtle
Regional Partner - California

Steve Thurtle provides operational and senior leadership for Wheelock’s master-planned communities in California, and leads the growth strategy for the West Coast, coordinating acquisition opportunities, due diligence, construction, entitlements and permitting.

Prior to Joining Wheelock, Steve served as senior vice president for Richland Communities, an entrepreneurial real estate investment firm with over $1 billion in assets. Notable California projects include Highland Reserve and Stonepoint in Roseville, Land Park at Lathrop, and Arrowood in Oceanside—projects comprising more than 15,000 residential units and 3 million square feet of commercial space.

After receiving his B.S. in real estate finance and economics from the University of Southern California, Steve joined The UMET Trust/The Hallwood Group (NYSE), overseeing a 16-state portfolio of REO assets. He later held executive positions in development and management with RMB Realty and with Balcor-American Express.

Steve is a member of the Urban Land Institute, Lambda Alpha International, the Sacramento Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce and the north State Building Industry Association. He served as president of the Roseville Chamber of Commerce and is a former United Way board member. 


Barbara Koenig
Marketing Director

Since 2011, Barbara Koenig has led the branding and marketing of Wheelock's master-planned communities, including bulding teams of agencies, vendors and local marketing managers.

In her career as an advertising agency executive and consultant, she has marketed more than $23 billion worth of property, comprising nearly 60,000 residential and resort units, and 14 million square feet of commercial space. From 1997 to 2001, she led the agency team that helped Disney's Town of Celebration become America's most successful new-town community. For more than 13 years, she led all aspects of marketing for Baldwin Park, the redevelopment of the former Orlando Naval Training Center into a community that is now home to more than 8,000 residents and 125 businesses. Both communities were awarded the coveted Award for Excellence by the Urban Land Institute (ULI).

Barbara has been an active member of ULI and the NAHB. She has served on the executive boards of Leadership Florida, the Orlando Convention and Visitors Bureau, the Orlando Museum of Art, and the Tampa Museum of Art. She now lives in Austin, Texas, and enjoys travel anywhere off the beaten path, particularly if it involves a sailboat or golf clubs.


Kelly Majzlik
Controller

Kelly Majzlik joined Wheelock Communities as controller in 2014, responsible for all accounting and finance functions for the land assets. She has more than 18 years of accounting and finance experience, primarily in the residential land and home building industry.

In 2006, Kelly became assistant controller for the North Florida division of Pulte Homes. During her tenure, she earned a promotion to controller, successfully oversaw 3 internal division mergers, and led her team in all aspects of an external merger with Centex Homes. As controller for one of the largest divisions of the company, she managed all of the accounting, finance and budgeting functions for more than 12,000 lots.

She began her career as a staff auditor for Chastang, Ferrell, Sims & Eiserman, LLC - a public accounting firm located in Winter Park, FL. In this role, she was exposed to many different industries while learning the ins and outs of financial statements as well as gaining invaluable experience documenting and implementing internal controls for Sarbanes-Oxley compliance.

Kelly holds a B.S. in accounting, a B.S. in finance and an M.B.A. from the University of Central Florida. She is also a licensed CPA. In her free time, Kelly enjoys baking, reading, playing video games, Steelers football, Orlando nightlife, and staying fit by practicing aerial arts.
